My grandfather was very sick when we admitted him in the hospital. The doctor informed us that he has very little time left with him. My grandfather wanted me to get married before he dies. But the doctor told us that we cannot take him out of the hospital. Since we had little time, I decided to get married that night only and planned to webcast of my wedding for my grandfather, so that he can watch it in the hospital.

We took permission from the hospital and arranged a webcast service provider, LiveStreamPro in this case. LiveStreamPro took care of everything; all the equipment, everything both at the marriage venue as well as at the hospital.

We webcasted the entire wedding proceedings for the benefit of my grandfather and he was able to watch the entire proceedings. I made sure to talk to him while the rituals were on. And immediately after the wedding we went to the hospital to take his blessings. He didn’t stay much longer after that, may his soul rest in peace. But I am happy that at least I was able to fulfill his last wish. I have always been close to my grandfather and to fulfill his last wish really meant a lot to me. And thanks to streaming technology he was with me through the entire wedding rituals.

The concept of Wedding Webcast was initiated for people who had relatives and friends staying abroad and who wanted their distant relatives and friends to be part of their rituals. Through webcast they could watch the rituals over the internet from anywhere. But now wedding webcast is being done for anyone who cannot come for the wedding, even if they are staying in the same city.

Every business wants to have itself found on the first page of the search engines – Google, Yahoo or Bing… they all want to be there, on the first page. And truly so…  if they are not visible on the first page of the search engines, they are lost.

Webcasting or Live Streaming is the fastest growing video services. Besides providing the companies with a smart medium of communication, Webcasting has also proved to be a great promotion tool for businesses and helped many businesses get themselves visible on Search Engine Result Page (SERP).

Some of the ways in which Webcasting can help in SEO:

 a)     Organize a Webinar/ webcast to inform people about your product: Many companies are organizing live webinars to inform people about their products and services. Webcasting live events have also come in fashion. Many big corporate houses have used webcasting to inform people about their new and existing products. These webcasted events can be broadcasted over the internet live and later its recorded video can also be put over the net. Webcast an even has its own advantages.

 b)    Stream your webcast live or on demand from your own website: While the service provider who does webcasting for you can host your event on their website, it should be insisted that they embed your webcasts on your website only; this gets more visitors to your website and helps your website get more reputation, more brand exposure and credibility in the eyes of google.

c)     Share videos on Social Networks like Facebook & Twitter: The webcasted video can be webcasted on your facebook page too. LiveStreamPro webcasted an event for Samsung in August and hosted the event on the Samsung facebook page too. All the Samsung facebook fans were able to view the live launch by visiting the page. This makes your existing fans happy and also gets more interested people to your page, thus increasing your fans.

d)    Use blogs to promote webcast: You can also ask many credible blog writers to promote your webcast before the event, and host the live as well as recorded launch on their blogs. LiveStreamPro can provide hosting information to the bloggers and assist them in hosting.

e)     Get searched on new terms – Webinars, Webcasting: You can get found on the search engines by new terms – webinars or webcasting or live streaming. This gets you more visibility.

 f)     Stream videos on Youtube: Every day around 2 million videos are streamed on YouTube. But very few people know that investing on PPC (Pay per Click) on YouTube provides a better ROI than PPC on Google. It is cheaper and faces lesser competition to come on YourTube search result page. The videos you stream can be used for this purpose.

LiveStreamPro has gained tremendous expertise in this area and can manage webcast of any scale for you. Use this incredible option of webcasting to attract more people towards you, so that they find you and become your fans.

Companies invest a lot in the researching on what their customers’ need and then develop their products best suiting the needs. And obviously the customer needs to be informed of the new products that have been so thoughtfully developed. Which is why, companies engage in launch of a product. Mostly companies have large budgets attached to the launch a new product. Product Launch means formal introduction of the product and its features in front of media, who in turn show/ write about them for the public to know.

With webcasting, the launch event can be shared directly with the customers. So rather than blocking space on the television, which can be hugely expensive, you can still have people watch your event over the internet – it is a cheap medium, available across the globe. But to make a success of your launch webcast, the following needs to be kept in mind.

  • Arrange for good lighting:Lighting is essential to get clear view of the proceedings. If the lighting is not appropriate the event coverage will be affected and the virtual audience may feel bored and log off.
  • Check the audio: A video without an audio or without synchronized audio is like watching a movie without sound. This portrays nonprofessional attitude and can again make the audience log off.
  • Well scheduled program: The agenda of the event needs to be properly decided in advance and adhered to, in other words something should be going on always to keep the audience engaged. Decide on fillers beforehand, in case of any breaks during the event is in progress.
  • Camera Locations: The service provider needs to be informed of the focus areas and other details like the movement of the presenter, or physical audience etc. so that they can locate the camera for proper coverage.
  • Interactive Features: It is also a good practice to have an interactive option, like a comment window or a chat box, for virtual audience where they can put in their views about the event proceedings as well as the product being introduced. This also benefits the companies to gather valuable feedback about what the audience have to say about the new product or what questions the audience have in mind.
  • Communicate the Invite: The most important aspect is to advertise the launch and send invitations to people to view the page of the webcast. Speak to your service provider for assistance. There are many modes available; blogs, website, facebook, twitter, emailing and similar social media or other options you can use to send invitations out.

Webinars are seminars, presentations or workshops conducted over the web. There may be a webinar scenario where the live classroom session or a business presentation is attended by live audience as well as webcasted for the virtual audience at the same time.

Webinars are frequently used these days as a promotional tool, expansion tool, information tool as well as knowledge tool by many businesses, corporate houses and educational institutions. Whilst Webinars are very useful, but to make them a success and ensure that your purpose of conducting the seminar is fulfilled, you need to take care of the following things:

  • Informative & Useful content: The content is very important. People are really very impatient these days, in the first 10 minutes of the start of the webinar they decide whether they will sit through the entire proceeding. If and only if you share useful, informative and quality content, people will stick to your whole presentation… And if you continue to provide good content that gives knowledge to people, they will continue to come again.
  • Deliver as Promised: The content of the webinar should be in sync with the title of your webinar. Many people keep a very attractive subject to their webinar but have crap content which has little to do with the topic. When this happens, the audience feel cheated and the organization looses credibility, which is very bad for the company.
  • Professional and interactive presentation: Your presentation slides should not only provide useful content, they should be interesting and professional too. Which means that the slides should have less points (you can have more slides, but each slide should cover only 3-4 points), too many points or a clumsy looking slide bores people and makes them restless. Also make sure that your slides are error free, presentation with mistakes or poor alignment reflects unprofessionalism. Double check all your facts and figures.
  • Provide reference material: It is a good practice to provide some material to the audience relevant to the webinar. This can be either the slides of your presentation, reference sites or any other material that will help the audience better understand the topic. Another thing… we all love free things and if you offer material to people with your webinar, people will consider it good value for their money.
  • Audio and slide sync: It is absolutely important to have sync between what is being talked about is related to what is shown on the screen. Any webinar will be an absolute disaster, if there is disconnect between what is being said and what is shown. It is like watching a movie with dialogues coming either after or before the scene.
  • Engage the audience: There needs to be medium where people can ask questions or interact with the presenter. A one sided webinar is a definite no-no. Audience attend a webinar to learn or gain knowledge. So there needs to be a medium provided to them where they can pose questions to the presenter, which the presenter should take out time to answer, else the virtual audience feel neglected.

We have seen many webinars fail because companies do not take care of these basic things and it is important to choose your service provider for handling your webinars with care. The provider should be capable of providing you with the interactive features to engage your audience and also ensures sync between audio and presentation.
